Tom on the Festive Airwaves
22nd December 2024 It's been a busy weekend here at Extremis Towers. First, Dr Tom Christie was interviewed on Times Radio's The Jane Mulkerrins Show on Saturday 21st December about his latest book, A Seriously Groovy Movie Christmas, where he was asked about the weird and wonderful festive cinema of the 1960s and '70s. Then he was off to BBC Scotland HQ to join the panel for popular radio discussion show Off the Ball, where he was quizzed on his knowledge of holiday movies and Scotland's Christmas customs by hosts Tam Cowan and Ray Bradshaw, and fellow guest Bobby Madden. |

Dundee Christmas Events Cancelled
5th December 2024 Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Extremis Publishing Christmas appearances scheduled for Dundee over the next few days have had to be cancelled. "The Bermuda Triangle of Christmas Movies" presentation at Dundee Central Library on Friday 6th December will be postponed to a future date, and Extremis Publishing will sadly be unable to take part in the Christmas market taking place on Saturday 7th December at the McManus Art Gallery and Museum. Apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment over this unexpected and unavoidable development. |

Book Week Scotland Thanks
25th November 2024 Extremis Publishing would like to thank Falkirk Library and Lochee Library for their kind hospitality during Book Week Scotland. Dr Tom Christie was on hand to give a presentation about the history of Christmas cinema at Falkirk Library on Thursday 21st November, and then was at Lochee Library to present a lecture about artificial intelligence in publishing on Friday 22nd November. It was great to meet so many people with such a commitment to books and literacy, and to take questions on such a wide variety of subjects on both days. Thanks to everyone who came along, and to the staff of both libraries for having invited us. |

We also had the privilege of meeting him, and discovered that he was every bit the true gentleman his reputation suggests - and someone who took time to speak with his many fans during the book signing session afterwards. |

New Session of Writing for Publication Coming Soon
27th August 2024 There are just a few places left for the fast-approaching new session of Writing for Publication at Forth Valley College's Stirling Campus. Led by Extremis Publishing director Dr Tom Christie, the course runs over six weeks from 6pm-8pm every Tuesday night, starting from 10th September. The course looks at the many different possible ways to have your work published so that it can be discovered by a public readership, and attendees will gain knowledge of what is involved in considering a career as a writer, including working with publishers, publicists and literary agents. Copyright law, financial matters and licensing rights will all be addressed, as well as the types of post-publication matters which might be expected once a book is on sale. New Writing for Publication Course Coming Up Soon
17th July 2024 A new session of Dr Tom Christie's popular Writing for Publication course will soon be beginning at Forth Valley College's Stirling Campus. The course runs over six weeks, taking place in two-hour sessions every Tuesday evening from 6pm-8pm, and attendees will receive insights about the publishing industry including information about what is involved in considering a career as a writer. Murray in The National
1st February 2024 Author and archaeologist Dr Murray Cook has been hitting the headlines once again. Murray and his team have uncovered new evidence of the final siege of Stirling Castle, when the Jacobite Army once encircled that famous fortress back in January 1746. As featured in The National newspaper, this newly-unearthed discovery marks an exciting start to Stirling's 900th anniversary year as the city celebrates being named a Royal Burgh by King David I back in 1124.
